Son of John William and Ada Florence Williamson. John was recorded as an agricultural worker.
Fred was born 13 Feb 1922 at Tattershall Bridge, Lincolnshire. On 20 May 1943 he married Jillian Iris Cook at West Mersea Parish Church. He was living in Mile End Road, Colchester at the time and Iris was in Firs Road, West Mersea, with her parents Phoenix William and Ivy Vera Cook.

Fred died 3 Jun 1944 during 43 Commando operations on the enemy held island of Brac, Yugoslavia. The island had originally been occupied by the Italians, but after Italy capitulated it was occupied by German troops. The German troops on Brac were defeated July 1944. 43 Commando was with other groups supporting Marshall Tito Partisans in Yugoslavia.
