2009 Wedding Display. This was a mystery picture but we think we may have worked out whose marriage it was by comparing it with other named photographs of the bride and groom. On 2 August 1909 Edward Ernest Fletcher a dental surgeon of St. Georges Square, London married Mabel Constance French, of The Chase, West Mersea, daughter of John French an oyster merchant at St. Peter and St. Paul's Church. This photo may have been taken opposite Daisybank, the French's house in Firs Chase, on open ground in front of Tiffin's Orchard. Mabel and Edward moved away from Mersea after their marriage but brought at least one of their children to be baptised in the church where they were married.
See BJ26_002 for the back of this card, postmarked 2 October 1909, to Mr N. Spurgeon, Post Office, Sibel Hedingham.
