WW2 propeller recovered by local fishermen. Thought to be from a Messerschmit Bf109 (often known as the ME109).

The Bf109 was one of the most important military aircraft in WW2. There were several variations and in total almost 35,000 were built. As a fighter, it was used during the Battle of Britain to escort German bombers.

Most were driven by a Daimler-Benz 601 engine developing 1,475 hp, it had a top speed of 342 mph (553 km/h).

The Bf109 had a 20mm cannon mounted on the engine centre-line and firing through the centre of the propeller - the aperture can be seen in the photograph.
