Deceased was one of a party of four seamen who left their boat off Tollesbury to spend Christmas evening in Tollesbury. About 1pm they started to row back to their boat, anchored half a mile out, but neither the men nor the dinghey in which they were rowing were heard of or seen again. The sea was rough, with a flood tide and there was a lot of wind.
