Geoff Bray was an engineer with Bowaters and helped to lay-up the Liverpool Packet and the Markland in the River Blackwater in Essex in 1963. The weather was freezing, there were ice flows in the river, all the boilers had been shut down so you can imagine how cold it must have been onboard, it was a brutal week and one that I won`t forget.
