Abstract

Edward's wife is Jone. He bequeaths Brewers and Martels, Nicoles Churchmans and Cartors on Mersea to his wife, the same properties John the Younger bequeaths to Edward's brother. He has a son Edward and two younger children Henry and Anna, they are all under 21. He mentions a sister Mary and a brother Robart.

In the name of god amen the 9th of Jenewarj & in the yeare of ou[r] Lord god 1609 I Edward Bullock
of much wig borow in the Counti of Essex yeoma[n] beinge sick in body but in perfit memory
thank[es] be to god for it do make & ordeine this my last will & testament in maner as
followeth/ First I geave & bequeath my So[u]le to allmightie god my only Saviour & my
body to be burried in the Churchyeard of much wigborow Item I geave & bequeath to Jone
my wif towe mealch kyne and tow store hoges and one quarter of mault and tow quarters
of wheate and foure Leades of Chese and one Firkin of Butter to be p[a]yed to her
withine one mounth after my desease/ It[em] I geave & bequeath to Jone my wyf dureing
her perfitt widdowhoud or for the tearme of lyf yf she shall Keape herself so longe
a widdow to bringe up my Childeren All those my land[es] & tenement[es] lyeineg & beinge in
weast maresey Called & knowen by the names of Brewers & Martels and Nicoles Churchmans
and Cartors Provided allwayes that if Jone my wif Shall ether mary or depart
this wourld before my Sonne Edward shalbe the full age of one & twenty yeares then
my meaneinge is that those my Landes & tenement[es] abovesed shalbe lett by mine executors
at the best Advantage & the Rent therof to Remene to the use of the good bringing up
of my Childen & yf therbeany overfluse [overflux or excess] it shalbe equally devided betwene my toe
youngest Childeren henery An[d] Ana at such times as they shall come to thear full age of xxi
yeares It[em] I geave and bequeath To my Sonne Edwade Bullock after the decease
or mariage of Jone my wif when he shall come to the full age of xxi yeares
all those my land[es] and Tenement[es] Called Brewers martels nicoles Churchmans
and Cartors to him & his heaires for ever Provided alwayes that Jone my wyf shall
dureinge all her tearme Suffitienly keape & mantene all the houses & edifeces
in and about the premises doinge no strip nor wast theron// Item I geave
and bequeath all those my good[es] & houshould standing and beinge in the hall & in the
parlor & in the parlor Chambers & in the Buttreyes to be equally devided
by my excecuters betwene my wif & my thre Childeren provided that yf any of my
Childeren do depart this world before the shall com to ther full age that then
ther part to remeine to be parted equally to them that shalbe then alyve/
It[em] I do geave to my Sister Mary the some of ten shillinges to be p[a]yed her
w[i]thin one month next after my dessease And I do make & ordeine my
Brother Robart Bullock to my soule excecutor to this my will to whom
I geave all the Rest of Good[es] and Chattles unbequeathd for to paye my
dettes & to dischardg my F[u]nerall & yf therbe any then overfluse my
will is that it Shalbe equally parted betwene my toe yongest Childeren
