Raymond was wounded and died in Chatham Naval Hospital. He was buried Springfield Holy Trinity Churchyard, Chelmsford.
Commemorated on the Roll of Honour at St Mary's Church, Tollesbury.
Raymond's father owned the outfitters in Tollesbury where the Surgery was built later.
The motor yacht ESSEX MAID was built at Rowhedge Ironworks for John Blott of Witham, launched in April 1939. She came under Royal Navy control in September 1939 and in 1942 she was a harbour defence patrol craft based at Wivenhoe.
