| The Peldon History Project is an organisation of volunteers who study and record the history of Peldon, Essex, in terms of its physical history and social history.
Techniques used include internet searching, Records Office searching, newspaper archive study, interviewing, transcribing documents, and tracing the histories of the old-established families, businesses, buildings and activities in Peldon.
We are also building up an image library and a collection of artefacts. The intention is to make our findings publicly accessible via a website, and perhaps through other means such as printed material and special displays or events.
We report on our activities and research findings in the local media, and we welcome involvement from residents in Peldon and surrounding areas, whether it be to share their own memories, knowledge or historical possessions, or to take part in the Project itself.

The Peldon History Project was started in 2015 to record the history of the village and its people, and to build on the work of Kay Gilmour from the 1940s.
Peldon resident and historian Kay Gilmour researched the history of Peldon and wrote a manuscript entitled 'Peldon in Essex - A Village over the Marshes'. This manuscript was typed, printed and bound in around 1950 and copies are quite rare. A copy is however, available in the Local Interest room of Colchester General Library.
