1.   In the Name of god Amen I John Ballard of Eastmarsey in the
2.   Countie of Essex Husband man beinge sick in body butt in good and
3.   perfict memorie [memorie crossed out] thanks bee too god for itt doe ordaine &
4.   Make this my Last Will and teastmant in Manoir & Forme Following
5.   First I doe bequeath my soule Into the hands of god that gave itt
6.   Mee : and my body to the earth to bee buried at the descricon of
7.   My executors heare after Minconed and as For the Worlie goods
8.   wich god of his Mercie hath Lent Mee I give & bequeath as Followe[th]
9.   Item I give unto my daughter Marie Ballard Five and twentie
10.   pounds : To bee paid unto her when she shall attaine to the Age off
11.   eighten years with all the benefit[ & profit] wich shall Arise and grow
12.   of and From the same . And my will & mind is that My uncell[uncle ?] Sam
13.   Fletwoode of eastmarsey and William Locker of the same shall have
14.   Eaquall and Full power to Asske demand sue for and recive the Saied
15.   twentie Five pounds of heare persons in whose hands itt now is that is
16.   To pay From John Everitt of eastmarsey Fiften pounds and Five pounds
17.   From Jerimiah [ Hurvid ] of[ye] same and Five pounds from my brother Sams Ballard
18.   of Cornade in Suffolk: to be paid too my too Lovinge Friends Above Named
19.   For the solle and onlie life of my daughter Marie Affore named with all
20.   benefict heareof .w[hi]chshall bee made & paiyed by the Care trust and
21.   fidelitie of my toe Friends before Named and if my daughter Marie shall hapen
22.   to dye before shee shall attaine the age of eighteen years then I give the said Five
23.   and twentie pounds ; as Followeth unto my Lovinge wife Marie if shee doe owt
24.   Live her & if she die before her then I give unto John Ballard my brothers
25.   sonn tenn pounds and the Remainder unto Thomas and elezebeth Children
26.   of my brother Sam Ballard or to soe manie of them as shall bee then Livinge
27.   Eaquallie to be devided with In six months Affter her decease Item I give
28.   unto my lovinge Wife Marie [unto whom I make my solo executrix] All the Rest of my goods chattels Movables
29.   Chattells due debts and dmands whatsoever For & towards her bringen up
30.   of my daughter afore named & payment of my debts & Legacies and bringen
31.   My body decantlie too the ground In Witness Wheareof I have heare untoo
