1.   In the name of god amen the xjxten day of December in
2.   the xij yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraine Lorde James
3.   by the grace of god now Kinge Et[cetera] in Anno D[o]mi[ni] 1614.
4.   I James Wells of westmersea in the Countie of Essex
5.   mariner beinge sick in bodie but p[er]fect in mynde & memorie
6.   thankes be to god therefore, doe make this my last will &
7.   testament, first I bequeath my soule into the handes of
8.   almightie god and my bodie to be buried where it shall
9.   please god to appoynt and for my worldly goods I despose
10.   as followeth. It[em] I give and bequeath unto John Wells
11.   my brother all my wearinge apparrell both wollen and
12.   lynen whatsoever, boots & shoes & all other thinges that I
13.   use to weare, one twoo yeare olde Bullock w[i]th a whight face
14.   one brasse pott one fetherbed one boulster one pillowe one
15.   posted halfe headed bedsteade & one payer of shetes, Item
16.   I give and bequeath unto the saide John Wells my brother
17.   all that time & terme which I have yet for to Come in all
18.   that tenement & landes which were sumtime by [my] brother in
19.   lawes Henerie Lyardes of westmersea deceased and he
20.   to be a guide & to se kept & brought upp/ Elizabeth Lyarde the
21.   daughter of the said Henerie as I my selfe am to die
22.   It[em] I will and my meaneinge is that if my/ wife be nowe
23.   with Childe that she shall have my halfe boate with all the
24.   furniture thereto belonginge to be sould & the monie thereof
25.   Cominge to be preserved & given unto the saide Childe at
26.   the age of one and twentie yeares but if she be not with
27.   Childe <.....> or if the saide Childe doe dye before the saide
28.   age of xxjti yeares then I will the saide halfe boate <.> or the
29.   monie thereof Cominge shall remaine unto my brother John
30.   Wells and he to pay out of the same fortie shillinges of
31.   good & lawfull monie of Inglande unto my sister Marie
32.   the wife of William Beckett at such time as he shall come to
33.   Inioye the same, It[em] I give unto my sister Marie hir twoo
34.   Chilldren to eyther of them one pewter platter. Item all the
35.   rest of my moveable goods whatsoever unbequeathed I give
36.   them whollie unto Temperance my wife whome I ordeine
37.   and make sole executrice of this my Last will & testament
38.   and she to take up all my detts & pay my detes and se
39.   my bodie decently brought to the grounde & to se this my
40.   will faithfully approved fulfilled & kept accordinge to my
41.   meaninge therein specifyed In witnesse whereof unto this
42.   my will I have put my hande & seale the day & yeare
