Abstract

Married Anne. He names three children, all under 12, Henry, Edward and Mary. He himself was a baby when his father died and is only 32 - 33 when he dies. As a child, he was the subject of a fraud trial when his uncle, Richard Wiseman, was accused of taking over a property left in trust for the child Henry. A brass commemorates Henry's death in 1609 in St Stephen's Church Great Wigborough.

In the name of god amen: The twentethe daie of June in the seventhe yere
of the Reigne of o[ur] Sovereinge Lord Kinge Jeames Anno d[omi]ni 1609
I henry Bullocke of muche wigborowghe in the County of Essex yeoman beinge of
sounde and p[er] fecte memory praysed be to god therefore doe make this my p[re]sente
Testam[en]t conteyninge therein my laste will in manner and forme followinge
Imprimis I bequeathe my soule into the handes of almightie god and my bodie to be
buried in the Chancell of muche wigborowghe Churche, Item I give and bequeathe
to the poore of the p[ar]ishe of muche wigborowghe the som[m]e of Thirtie \shilling[es]/ of lawfull \money/to be
paide by my executors within two monethes after my deceasse, Item I give and
bequeathe unto the poore of Toulsburye the som[m]e of \twentie/ shillinges of like money
to be paid w[i]thin two monethes after my decease : Item I give and bequeathe
unto Anne my wiffe the som[m]e of one hundred poundes of good and lawfull money of
Inglande to be paide unto hir by my executors w[i]thin three monethes after my deceasse
w[i]th this Condic[i]on that yf my said wiffe Anne be contented for to enter into
bonde to my executors\ acordinge thos theye shall thinke good/ to take the som[m]e of Foure and Thirtie pound[es] A yere\ duringe her liffe/
in full satisfaction of hir Thirdes of all suche lands and tenem[en]tes as I the
said Henry nowe gave in Fee simple, And further my will is that if my said
wiffe shall refuse to enter into suche sufficiente bonde unto my executors as
above said, that then my gifte of one hundred pounde before bequeathed
unto my wiffe to be void and my will is that the hundred pounde shoulde be
equally devided amongste my thre Children that is to saie to Henry
Bullocke my son A p[ar]t and to Edwarde Bullocke my son A p[ar]te and to marye
Bullocke my daughter A parte, Item I give and bequeathe unto Henry
Bullocke my \son/ all my Copiehoulde land[es] and tenem[en]t[es] lyinge in muche wigborowghe
in the County of Essex aforesaide, And further my will & true meanynge is
that my executors shalbe accounteable unto my said son Henry Bullocke
for the Rent[es] of all the said land[es] bequeathed unto him untill he accomplishe
his full age of twentie and one yeres, And my said son to allowe unto my
executors for his bringinge upp untill he accomplishe the age of twelve yeres the
som[m]e of twelve pounde A yere and from twelve untill he come to the age of one
& twentie yere to allowe the som[m]e of Fifteene pound[es] A yere for his maintenance

Item I give and bequeathe unto Edward Bullocke my youngeste son All that my
Copye\houlde/ landes & tenementes w[i]th thapp[ur]ten[au]nces called Hunt[es] & Browning[es] lyinge and beinge
in Toulsbury in the said County, Item I give and bequeathe unto my said son
Edwarde Bullocke the som[m]e of thre hundred pound[es] of lawfull money of Inglande
to be pad by my executors att his full age of one and twentie yeres, And further
my will is that my executors shalbe accounpteable unto my son Edwarde Bullocke
for the Rente of his lande aforesaid bequeathed when he shall com[m]e to the age of
one and twenty yeres and to be broughte upp w[i]th the use of the three hundred
pound[es] aforesaid bequeathed unto him Item I give and bequeathe unto marye Bullocke

Item my will is that yf my son Edwarde \shall/ happen for to dey out of this
worlde before his full age of one & twenty yeres be accomplished that then
the said three hundred pound[es] bequeathed unto him shalbe equally devided betwene
my son Henry , and my daughter marye And likewise my will is that yf my
daughter mary shall happen to dep[ar]t \out of this worlde/ before her said daes of paymente of the

County yeoman my full and whole executors of this my laste will & Testamente
uppon these Condic[i[ons that my Executors shall p[ro]vide and see that my bodie
be honestly buried, and also shall w[i]thin xiiijth daies after my deathe, And before then
doe prove this my will or take uppon them any p[ar]te of the Execuc[i]on thereof be
bounde in the som[m]e of Five hundred pound[es] of lawfull money of Inglande to John
Baron of Layrebretton in the Countye aforesaid gent[leman] to prove this my laste will
and testam[en]t in due forme of lawe and truely to execute and p[er]forme the same and
paie all and singuler my debttes and my legacies giftes & bequest[es] conteyned in
this my last will & testam[en]te accordinge to the tenor true purporte effecte
and meaninge of this my laste will, And I will that my Executors shall once
every yere att the feaste of S[ain]te michaell tharchangell give A true accompte to the
said John Baron his heires executors or assignees beinge thereunto by him his
executors or assign[er] Reasonablye Required w[i]thin the Southe Porche of the Churche
of muche wigborowghe of all suche money p[ro]fitt[es] and Comoditie as theye shall have

Testam[en]t, And I give unto the above named Edwarde Bullocke and John Bullocke my

of this my laste will & Testam[en]t And I give unto the above named John Baron for his
paines the som[m]e of ten pound[es] to be paide w[i]thin one yere after my
deceasse, And I ordeyne and appoynte the said John Baron, and Edwarde Glascocke
of Toulsbury in the said County Sup[er]visors of this my laste will & testamente
and I give unto the aforenamed Edwarde Glascocke for his
