AbstractFrank Walter Harvey was born c1878. The 1918 Absent Voter List shows him living at Barnard's Cottage, Peldon, as was his brother Edward James Harvey. They are sons of John and Jane Harvey - Jane was born Jane Mortlock and they married at Peldon 21 May 1860. The 1911 Census shows Frank and Edward as Farm Labourers.
By January 1918 they were both serving in the Army. Frank was a Private in the 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry. Service Number 27765 and Edward was in the Royal Garrison Artillery.
Frank Walter Harvey was killed 22 March 1918. The circumstances of his death are not known, but the 7th Battalion went to the Western Front July 1915. They were part of 61st Division and 21 March 1918 to 5 April 1918 were fighting near St Quentin, in action known as the First Battles of the Somme and the Battle of St Quentin. It seems likely that he was killed here.

Frank is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Panel 25 and 26, and his name is on the War Memorial in Peldon Parish Church.
