AbstractIn this Court Document belonging to the deeds of Sleyes and dated 20th November 1780, the brother and next of kin of John White (deceased) appears in person at Peldon Manor Court to surrender the property and sell it to Joseph Ward.

The Manor       The twentieth day of November in the Year of our
            }
of Peldon       Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty

Be it Remembered that on the day and Year above written Henry
White a Serjeant in the first Regiment of Foot Guards only Brother and Heir
at law of John White late of Peldon but afterwards of Langenhoe in the
County of Essex Farmer deceased late a Copyhold Tenant of the said
Manor came before Samuel Ennew esquire Steward of the said Manor
and did surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the Rod
and by the hands of the said Steward according to the Custom of the same
Manor All that Pantile Shop and Pound with the Appurtenances
opposite to the Brick'd messuage or Tenement now in the Tenure or Occupa-
tion of John Matthewman or his Assigns and holden of the said Manor by
Copy of Court Roll (to which he the said John White was admitted to him
and his Heirs on the Surrender of Edward Ransom at a General Court
Baron here holden for the said Manor the twelfth day of October in the
Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four) And the
Reversion and Reversions remainder and Remainders thereof And all
the Estate Right Title Interest Property Claim and demand
whatsoever both at Law and in Equity of him the said Henry White
of in and to the same Promises and every part and parcel thereof To
the only Use and Behoof of Joseph Ward of Colchester in the said County
of Essex Baker his Heirs and Assigns absolutely and forever according
to the Custom of the said Manor./.
