This document is a record of the admission of Sarah Denew [Note 1] to copyhold property and parcels of land in Abberton and Peldon later known as The Tye or Pete Tye Farm. This is a tenant's copy of the Court Roll of The Manor of Peet Hall recording the proceedings at a Court Baron held by the Lord of the Manor's Steward, Samuel Ennew, on Friday 24th October 1777. The Steward was representing Lord of the Manor, Jacob Brown. The document records the out of court surrender of the property by the previous tenant, Samuel Webb, a weaver of Brick Lane London, who was admitted to the property on 14th June 1757, the previous tenants, William and Elizabeth Mayhew having surrendered it.

The Manor of   }At a general Court Baron or Customary Court of Jacob Brown Gentleman Lord of the said Manor
Peet Hallat Peet Hall in and for the Manor aforesaid on Friday the twenty fourth day of October in the seventeenth year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of great Britain France and Ireland King defender of
the Faith &c[etera] and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven before Samuel Ennew Esquire
Steward there it is thus inrolled.

At this Court
it is certified by the said Steward and the Homage upon their oath present that since the last Court to wit (on the
thirtieth day of April now last past Samuel Webb of Brick Lane in the Parish of Saint Matthew Bethnall Green in the County of
Middlesex Weaver a Copyhold Tenant of this Manor did out of Court surrender into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the
rod and by the hands and acceptance of the said Steward according to the Custom of the said Manor All that Messuage or
Tenement with the Appurtenances called Sheppards And Also three Crofts of Land called Maydays containing six Acres
And also one Croft of Land called Helves otherwise Helps containing by estimation seven acres And also one Croft of
Land and one Tenement and half a yard land called Merchants in North Peet And also four acres of Land called Thorolds
And also one Croft of Land called Blasts And also one pightle of Land containing by estimation one Rood of Land
called Wigletts in peet And also one Cottage and forty Acres of Land called Phipps and Blasts And also two Crofts
of Land and one Meadow called the Ley Heriotable And also one Messuage or Tenement called Salmons and divers
Lands and Tenements to the same belonging and appertaining All which Premises are lying and being in the Parishes of
Peldon and Abberton or in one of them in the County of Essex and are holden of this Manor by Copy of Court Roll And all other
the Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever of him the said Samuel Webb holden by Copy of Court Roll
of the said Manor And to which he the said Samuel Webb was admitted Tenant to him and his Heirs at a Court Baron
held for the said Manor on the fourteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven
upon the Surrender of William Mayhew and Elizabeth his Wife with their and every of their Appurtenances And the
Reversion and Reversions Remainder and Remainders thereof And all the Estate Right Title Interest Use Trust Property
Claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said Samuel Webb of in and to or out of the same and every part and parcel thereof
To the only Use and behoof of Sarah Denew of the Parish of Saint Mary Matfellon otherwise White Chapel in the said
County of Middlesex Spinster her Heirs and Assigns forever according to the Custom of the said Manor Whereupon
comes here into Court the said Sarah Denew (by Edward Layher Attorney in this behalf) and humbly prayeth of the Lord
to admit her Tenant to the Premises surrendered to her as aforesaid To whom (by her said Attorney) the Lord of this Manor
by the Rod and by the hands of the said Steward hath granted and delivered seisin thereof To have and to hold all and
singular the Premises aforesaid with their Appurtenances unto the said Sarah Denew her Heirs and Assigns of the Lord
by the Rod at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the said Manor by the several yearly Rents Fealty Suit of
Court Heriot and all other Services and Customs therefore due and accustomed And she gives to the Lord a Fine &c[etera] and so
saving always the Right of the Lord the said Sarah Denew is admitted Tenant thereof in form aforesaid.
