1.   In the Name of God Amen the Twenty fift of Maye in the thirty fift yeare of the reign of our Sov[er]inge Lord King Charles
2.   the second of England etc And in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred Eighty & three I John presson of West Mersey in y[e] County
3.   of Essex being in good & perfect memory prayse be given unto Almightie God doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in
4.   manner & forme Followinge First & principally I comitt my soul into the hands of Almightie God my maker trusting through the
5.   meritorius death & passion of Jesus Christ my only saviour & redemer to receive a Free pardon & forgivenesse of all my sinns And my
6.   body to the earth out of w[hi]ch it was Framed to be buried in decent buriall at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named And as
7.   for that worldly goods which it hath pleased Almightie God of his Free mercie to bestow upon \me/ I give & bequeath as Followeth Item
8.   I give & bequeath unto Anna presson my loveing wife during her naturall life All those three parcells of Land & closes herein mentioned
9.   being Freehold (that is to say) All that parcell & close called perryfeild containing by estimation sixteen acres And all that parcell & close
10.   called Bocking croft containeing by estimation seaven acres & a halfe And all that parcell & close called Nine acre peace contayning
11.   by estimation Nine acres All which afforesaid parcells of Land & three closes are Lyinge & being in Layer Bretton & great Birtch in the
12.   County afforesaid And after the decease of Anna presson my afforesaid wife I give All those three parcells of Land before mentioned
13.   unto my son[n] Thomas presson and to his heires for ever. Item I give more unto Anna presson my Loveing Wife dureing her naturall
14.   life All that my Tenement & Five acres of Land called Walgraves being Coppyhold & one Cottage & three acres of Land called Stockhouse
15.   & one croft of land called Jennetts croft all w[i]th Lands being Coppyhold & holden upon the Mannor of West Mersey hall & now in the
16.   occupation of John Elfin in West Mersey or his assignes And after the decease of Anna presson my said Wife I give All the afforesaid
17.   Coppyhold Tenement & lands with all & singuler the appertenances unto my son[n] John presson & to his heires for ever. Moreover
18.   I give & bequeath unto Anna presson my loveing wife Dureing her naturall life All that my Coppyhold Messuage or Tenement &
19.   one Cottage with all the yards gardens lands & appertenances thereunto belonging containeing by estimation Eight acres more or less scituate
20.   Lying & being in West Mersey afforesaid & holden of the Manno[r] afforesaid by Copy or Co[rt] roll & now in the occupation of John Elfin and
21.   Thomas Everit or ther assignes called or knowen by the names of Bushes & Cookes gate or by any other name or names whatever soe
22.   called. And after the decease of Anna presson my said Wife I give & bequeath the afforesaid Coppyhold Messuage or Tenement and one
23.   Cottage wi[th] all the yards gardens lands & appertenances thereunto belonging as afforesaid unto Anna presson my daughter & to her heires
24.   for ever. Furthermore I give & bequeath unto my Loveing Wife Anna presson dureing her naturall life All that Feild or Close
25.   customarie called Chapmans containeing by estimation Eight Acres more or lesse holden upon the Manno[r] of West Mersey hall
26.   by Coppy of Co[rt] roll & now in the occupation of John Elfin or his assignes And after the decease of Anna presson my said wife I
27.   give & bequeath the affoersaid Feild or close customarie called chapmans containeing by estimation Eight acres as afforesaid unto
28.   Mary presson \my daughter / & to her heires for ever. Item all the rest of my goods Chateles household stuffe & moveables whatsoever unbequeathed
29.   I give & bequeath unto my Loveing Wife Anna presson And doe make constitute & ordaine she the said Anna presson my W
30.   Sole Executrix of this my last will & testament revoking all other wills whatsoever formerly by me made In Witnesse wherof
31.   I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year first above written
