Richard Cockerell, cooper, of West Mersea
Date of will: 11th March 1754
Date of death: unknown
Date of Probate: 29th August 1754
Probate granted to Richard's sister, Ann Ramsay, as sole executrix of the will before the Right Honourable Sir George See in London.
Bequeaths his lands and tenement known as High Fields or Highfield Woods in the parish of Messing, Essex to his sister, Ann Ramsay of Tollesbury or her assigns for the term of her natural life. After Ann's decease, the lands and tenement go to Richard's niece Sarah Clay, wife of Samuel, of Greenstead, Colchester. Additionally, all other monies and property net of expenses due are bequeathed to Ann Ramsay.

In the Name of God Amen
I Richard Cockerell of West Mersea in the County of Essex Cooper
being sick and weak on body but of sound and perfect mind
and memory do make my last Will and Testament in manner
following (that is to say) First I give and devise all that my freehold
messuage or tenement with the lands and appurtenances
whatsoever thereunto belonging called or known by the name
of High Feilds otherwise Highfeild Woods situate and being
in the Parish of Messing in the said County of Essex and now
in the tenure or occupation of William Wright his under tenants
or assigns unto my sister Ann Ramsay of Tollesbury in the
said County of Essex Widow and her assigns for and during

the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I
give and devise the same premises unto my neice Sarah the
now wife of Samuel Clay of Greenstead in the Liberty of the
Town of Colchester in the said County of Essex Farmer her heirs and
assigns for ever and I give and bequeath all my moneys out at
interest upon security and all other moneys debts goods stock in
Trade and other my Estate and Effects both real and personal
whatsoever and wheresoever after payment of my just debts
funeral expenses and the charges of the probate of this my
Will unto her my said sister Ann Ramsey to and for her sole
and absolute use and disposal and I do hereby nominate
constitute and appoint her my said sister Ann Ramsey sole
Executrix of this my Will In Witness whereof I the said Richard
Cockerell have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Eleventh
day of March in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven
Hundred and fifty four [signature of Richard Cockerell] Signed sealed published
and declared by the said Richard Cockerell as and for his last Will
and Testament in the presence of us and by us attested in his
presence William Hawes Robert Cooke Thos Cuttler
This Will was proved at London on the twenty ninth
day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven
Hundred and fifty four before the Right Honourable Sir
George See Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully
constituted by the Oath of Ann Ramsey Widow the sole
Executrix named in the said Will to whom Administration
was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits
of the said Deceased she having been first sworn by
Commission duly to administer.
