TitleDown on the Farm - Victor Gray Part 2
AbstractVictor Gray of New Hall Farm, Little Wigborough, interviewed by Len Broadhurst. The walk round the farm is continued from the previous tape. They are on the edge of the marsh - there are 5 Red Hills on the farm. Vic and Len go down to the counter wall, dating back to Roman times. Beyond it is the sea wall, about 300 years old.
Vic devotes some of his time to conservation, providing habitat for wild birds etc.. Brent geese are a significant problem - they are a recent arrival, their numbers are increasing and they do a lot of damage.
The land is heavy clay - a lot of drainage work has been done, and these days it is possible to work it because almost unlimited horsepower is available.
