A Mersea man right through and through

With old flat cap and rusty bike

A man to ask, a man to like.

A man who loved the water's edge

A man we knew as Dear Old Reg,

A man we shan't see any more

For he's now by a distant shore.

Still wearing cap and cycle clips,
A man who answers slow with pride,
When St. Peter asks "Reg, when's the tide ?"
