Funeral of Mr H.T. Hone. The funeral took place on Wednesday, the vicar Rev. C. Pierrepont Edwards MC officiating, of Mr Herbert Thomas Hone of the Swan Hotel, Brightlingsea, who died on Sunday at the age of 56 years. Both Mr and Mrs hone were extremely well known in West Mersea, Mrs Hone being a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Arthur Went who were for a number of years licensees of the white Hart Hotel, while Mr Hone was a brother of Mr Ronald Hone of the Sailing and Social Club. Before going to Brightlingsea a few years ago, Mr and Mrs Hone were licensees of the "Dog and Pheasant", East Mersea. He leaves a widow and a son from a former marriage.
The floral tributes included those from the Colchester and East Essex Licensed Victuallers Association and a few friends at "The Swan". The chief mourners were Mrs Hone (wife), Mr R. Hone (brother), Ms Bartlett (sister), Mrs Turnnidge (sister in law), Betty and Dinah (nieces). Many fellow licensed victuallers and other friends from Brightlingsea were also present.
