The houseboat ARTEMIS is promonent on the right. Known locally as "Bentley's houseboat", she was a wooden yawl built at Summers & Payne, Southampton in 1900, Official No. 113276. In 1938 she was bought by William Bentley, who ran an oyster restaurant in London. From 1947 she was a houseboat, until 1994 when she was taken from her mud berth at West Mersea and transported to Germany in a dock ship. Rebuilding began in 1996 and in 2008 she was sailing again.
