Bison bones found off East Mersea by Chris Nower and Julie Shead. They were found approximately 100 yards off the beach near Cosway's caravan park. One small piece of rib sticking out of the mud was the first things spotted, then 45 more bones including the skull were uncovered. The bottom part of the skeleton with the lower legs was too deeply embedded to be removed without special equipment.

The bones have been donated to Mersea Museum and are to be displayed in 2018.
