 Deborah Rittie Annie Smith née Traylor 1864 - 1942. Born in Peldon, she married Thomas Absalom Smith in 1890, an agricultural labourer, also of Peldon, and had five children. Her brother, Elijah William Traylor, was one of Peldon's special constables who arrested the German crew of the L33 Zeppelin airship that came down at Little Wigborough on 24th September 1916.

The family believes this picture of Deborah was taken outside Abberton Manor where she worked as a cook when the house was still in private ownership.
