6 of 18 Found underneath the wallpaper at 120 Coast Road West Mersea. Blackboard for a list of Boat Crews, and on another wall, a board for a list of Billets. They were discovered during redecoration in 1996, but are thought to date from WW2. The Royal Army Service Corp were based at the Hard with a variety of motor cruisers and also Alligators - small amphibious landing craft. 120 Coast Road was named "Beach House". The house had been empty for some time before the Panton family bought it - Annie and 'Joe' Dawson had previously lived there.
