It is a review of a new book "Saga of the Steam Plough" by Harold Bonnett (Allen & Unwin 42s). Mr Bonnett writes: One pioneer was Thomas Darby of Pleshey who, in 1877 built the first Darby Digger. The actual erection was undertaken at the smithy in Pleshey. Later a more compact and lighter version of this machine was made by Davey, Paxman & Co.of Colchester.
