At this time, there are thought to have been dairy herds at Bromans Farm, East Mersea Hall, Waldegraves, Brierley Hall and Bower Hall, though perhaps not all of them could handle milk in bulk. Not many years before this, milk was always collected in churns. By 2020, there wer no dairy herds on the island.
