George Hone was serving as Sub-Lieutenant on ML121 August 1916 and Lieutenant on ML121 in June 1917.

ML121 was one of a series of Motor Launches built by Elco in United States / Canada. They were powered by twin petrol engines with a speed of 19 knots. The complement comprised two officers, two motor mechanics two leading seaman and four seamen. [ See navymuseum.co.nz for a good description]

ML121, served in Dover Command, battle honour - Zeebrugge 4.1918, included in the War Loss Section in Jane's Fighting Ships, but lost after Armistice; 22 December 1918 in English Channel - lost by collision off Seine Bank, France ( www.naval-history.net ).
