Large cannon ball on left is 5,080 grams (11lbs 3oz) and diameter 111mm (4 3/8 inches) and from these dimensions is likley to be from a Demi-Culverin. MuseumItem P2 - found 1920, from site of East Mersea Fort.

Smaller cannon ball on right is 1,568 grams (3lbs 7 ¼ oz) and diameter 74mm (2 15/16 inches) and is for a Minion (otherwise known as a ...

Cannon balls in Museum Collection.
Large cannon ball on left is 5,080 grams (11lbs 3oz) and diameter 111mm (4 3/8 inches) and from these dimensions is likley to be from a Demi-Culverin. MuseumItem P2 - found 1920, from site of East Mersea Fort.
Smaller cannon ball on right is 1,568 grams (3lbs 7 ¼ oz) and diameter 74mm (2 15/16 inches) and is for a Minion (otherwise known as a Drake). MuseumItem L233.
Both these types of cannon were among those captured from the East Mersea Fort on 14th June 1648. [Sue Howlett].
