Eastern National double decker bus DEV477 crossing the Strood, West Mersea, at high tide. 75 service to West Mersea via Abberton and Blackheath.

When asked about DEV477, Ron Green replied:
Ah! DEV 477. I reckon I did more journeys on that bus than any other. New in 1936, Bristol chassis, Gardner GO5G five cylinder diesel, body by Brush. Rebodied by Eastern Coachworks Lowestoft in the late 1940s. Other regulars were DEV478, DEV479 and DEV480. ENO931,ENO933 (932 was at Halstead) also FPU519, FPU520 and FPU521. All were rebodied by ECW around that period. Strangly, 477 was always a slightly darker shade of green than the others even when rebodied. The Rehacks as the busmen called them were always used on the the West Mersea run, we didn't usually get new buses because of the Strood. Next time you are in MICA think of how many nights DEV 477 spent in there.
